My right hon. Friend expects to receive the committee's interim report shortly.

asked tie Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will enable local authorities to establish smokeless zones without the expense and delay of promoting Private Bills.

This is a matter on which my right hon. Friend would prefer to await advice from the Committee on Air Pollution.
