§ 127. Mr. Bowlesasked the Minister of Health whether he will circularise hospital boards with advice that they should delete from their hospital names depressing words like, for incurables, cancer,&c., so as to remove despondency from patients and relations.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodI regard this as a matter for the hospital authorities themselves. Regional hospital boards may, in consultation with the management committees concerned, make such changes in the names of non-teaching hospitals as they think fit, and I am prepared to consider any proposal for a change of name put forward by the board of governors of any teaching hospital.
