HC Deb 11 November 1953 vol 520 c41W
58. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is aware that the reputation of London Airport as the largest airport in the world is diminished by the inadequate road communications between it and the centre of London; and whether, in these circumstances, he will give priority to the conclusion of the Cromwell Road extension and other works necessary to provide first-class modern road communications to this airport.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I recognise the need for improving road communications between London Airport and central London. The Cromwell Road extension scheme would cost about£4½ million to complete and I cannot at present forecast when funds will be available to enable it to proceed.
