HC Deb 10 November 1953 vol 520 cc37-8W
122. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he has considered reports made to his Department by miners' representatives regarding delays on examinations and consideration of cases by the Stoke-on-Trent Pneumoconiosis Board; what is the explanation for the delays; and what action he intends to take.

Brigadier Smyth

My right hon. Friend very much regrets the delays to which the hon. Member refers and is doing all he can to prevent them. They are, however, principally due to our inability to obtain the services of sufficient doctors with the qualifications needed for the work.
