HC Deb 19 May 1953 vol 515 cc128-9W
Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Pensions what type of disabled persons are entitled, under his regulations, to apply for a motor car; and what steps are taken to ascertain whether persons who cannot use public transport should be provided or not with a car.

Mr. Amory

The persons entitled to apply are ex-members of the Armed Forces and the Mercantile Marine pensioned at the total disablement rate for the loss of both legs with one or both amputations above the knee, or paraplegia or any other disability resulting in the total or almost total loss of the use of both legs. When applications are received reports are obtained and all the circumstances are considered by my medical and technical officers.
