HC Deb 18 May 1953 vol 515 c112W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the growing practice being adopted by motorists of fixing Coronation flags and pennants on the front of their cars; and whether, as this tends to distract motorists attention from careful driving, he will issue a statement advising motorists to fix these pennants above the windscreen or some other similar position and thus lessen the possibility of road accidents.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I welcome these demonstrations of loyalty but hope that motorists will be careful to place such emblems where they will not interfere with the driver's view.
