asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why antiseptic fluids based on D.C.M.X. are subject to Purchase Tax when supplied to hospitals.

Because they have not been recommended by my center hon. Friend the Minister of Health for inclusion in the list of exempt substances, nor have succeeded in securing inclusion in any of the standard publications specified in Part II of the Eighth Schedule to the Finance Act, 1948.
