HC Deb 16 March 1953 vol 512 c157W
24. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that much of the rice now being sold in Dagenham is musty and appears to have been long in store; and what action he is taking to withdraw it from sale.

Major Lloyd George

All rice imported from the East is recleaned or remilled and rebagged before being issued, but a small quantity, distributed recently, still had a slightly musty flavour. As soon as this was reported arrangements were made for the rice to be exchanged for sound deliveries.
