HC Deb 16 March 1953 vol 512 c157W
7. Mrs. Braddock

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that some varieties of boiled sweets have risen in price by 2d. per quarter pound; and what steps he is taking to ensure that aged persons are not deprived of these sweets because of the increased price.

Major Lloyd George

My information is that the largest of the few price increases that have occurred is much smaller than that. Some price increases would probably have been required had control continued to meet increased costs of production and distribution.
