HC Deb 10 March 1953 vol 512 c105W
105. Sir D. Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he hopes to be able to announce his decision on the application made by Sutherland County Council in November last for an 85 per cent. grant towards the estimated cost of £9,200 for improving Golspie Harbour.

Mr. J. Stuart

I have carefully considered, in consultation with the White Fish Authority and the Highlands Panel, the possibility of supporting the Council's request, but I am afraid that in view of the limited extent of the fishing activities it would be difficult to justify so large an expenditure on this project from the funds available for fishery harbour works. If, however, the Council find it possible to put forward some less expensive proposal it will be sympathetically considered.
