§ 79. Mr. Hastingsasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what authority is responsible for the provision of housing accommodation for persons previously resident at Canvey Island whose homes have been condemned as 97W uninhabitable; and what help his Department is giving to such authority in its difficult task.
§ Mr. MarplesFortunately very few houses in permanent occupation were destroyed on Canvey Island. The urban district council estimates the number at 10 to 15. My right hon. Friend is sure that the Council will help to secure the rehousing of any families who are unable to make their own arrangements. His officers are in touch with the Council.
