HC Deb 10 March 1953 vol 512 c98W
78. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when the committee appointed by him to investigate the working of the Exchequer equalisation grant is likely to report; and whether he will make a statement on the progress of this committee's activities.

Mr. Marples

My right hon. Friend hopes that this report will be presented before the end of the summer.

80. Dr. King

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what sums were paid in the years 1950 to 1952 from the rate equalisation grant to Plymouth, Portsmouth, Bristol and Southampton.

Mr. Marples

These authorities were not in the years in question eligible for Exchequer equalisation grants.
