§ 83. Mr. Rhodesasked the Minister of Materials if he will refuse to back future projects to buy extra cotton on Government account from Egypt, without giving the Sudan the same favourable treatment.
§ Sir A. SalterAs I informed the hon. Member for Gloucestershire, West (Mr. Philips Price) on 16th February, raw cotton is bought by the Raw Cotton Commission and by spinners who have chosen 89W to buy on their own account or through merchants. Their purchases, I understand, are determined by commercial considerations. The Government has no intention at present of itself buying raw cotton.
