HC Deb 04 March 1953 vol 512 cc47-8W
Mr. H. Johnson

asked the Attorney-General how many transfers of properties with titles registered at Her Majesty's Land Registry took place during the last available 12 monthly period.

The Attorney-General

During the 12 months ended 31st December, 1952, there were 65,167 transfers of registered land.

Mr. H. Johnson

asked the Attorney-General how many transfers of properties with titles registered at Her Majesty's Land Registry took place during the last available 12 monthly period, in which solicitors were not acting for the vendor and purchaser.

The Attorney-General

This information is not recorded. Applications for registration are presented by the purchaser and accordingly Her Majesty's Land Registry is not normally aware whether or not a solicitor is acting for the vendor. It is estimated that the number of transfers where a solicitor did not act for the purchaser did not exceed 200 in the 12 months ended 31st December, 1952.
