§ 75 and 76. Mr. Swinglerasked the Minister of Education (1) if her attention has been drawn to the recommendation of the Select Committee on Estimates that closer consultation between her Department and the local education authorities is required to secure a more accurate estimate of the number of school places needed; and what steps she is taking to bring this about;
(2) if her attention has been drawn to the Report of the Select Committee on Estimates that the figure of 1,150,000 new post-war school places required by the end of 1953 is based on a miscalculation and needs to be revised; and if she will make a statement.
§ 79 and 80. Mr. Morleyasked the Minister of Education (1) when she proposes to undertake a national survey of the older schools in the country as recommended in the Eighth Report from the Select Committee on Estimates;
(2) if her attention has been drawn to the recommendation in the Eighth Report from the Select Committee on Estimates that the school-building programme in England and Wales should be organised on a three-year basis; and if she will make a statement.
