HC Deb 18 June 1953 vol 516 c81W
33. Mr. R. Harris

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Coronation Medals were issued to members of local authority fire brigades in England and Wales; how many were issued to members of police forces in England and Wales; and what is the total full-time strength and part-time strength of fire brigades and of police forces in England and Wales.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

Coronation Medals were issued, by command of The Queen, as personal souvenirs from Her Majesty to certain persons in the Crown Service and others in this country, and in other parts of the Commonwealth. It has been a long established practice not to publish any lists of recipients, and I could not undertake to give the numbers of medals issued to particular services.
