§ 70. Mr. Ellis Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will give the total Government expenditure in Africa on the groundnuts scheme, and a full report on the proposed arrangements for a private concern to take over ownership or managerial responsibility.
§ Mr. LytteltonAccording to the published accounts of the Overseas Food Corporation the total amount expended from the Consolidated Fund to 31st March, 1951, was £38,753,300.
With regard to the second part, there is no truth in the report that the groundnuts scheme is to be handed over to private ownership or management.
