asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many applications for a telephone are outstanding in Dorset; how many of these are from farmers; and how the figure compares with a year ago.

Mr. Gammans

1,367 applications are outstanding, including 556 in course of being met. Of these, 74 and 34 are from farmers. A year ago there were 2,100 applications on hand, including 89 from farmers.
