90. Mr. George Craddock

asked the Minister of Labour the policy of Her Majesty's Government in regard to the extension of the National Service Acts at the end of 1953.

Mr. Watkinson

As announced in the Statement on Defence, published in February last (Cmd. Paper 8768), the Government's policy is that the present National Service scheme should be extended for a further five years.
