HC Deb 28 July 1953 vol 518 c112W
Mr. Callaghan

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many candidates who failed in the first part of the Special Entry examination held by the Civil Service Commission in May, 1952 were subsequently called for interview under the revised arrangements that were made; and how many, apart from Candidate No. 435, were finally awarded cadetships.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Four candidates who though they had attained the pass-mark for the examination as a whole were in the first place shown in the unqualified list by reason of their failure to attain separate pass marks in elementary mathematics and elementary physics were subsequently called for interview under the revised arrangements. The answer to the second part of the Question is. None.
