asked the Minister of Transport why his Department insists that the diameter of a traffic island shall be not less than 180 feet; and if he will reconsider this policy.

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the central islands of roundabouts. For these a diameter of 180 feet is not insisted on as a minimum, although it is a desirable objective where sufficient space is available.
