HC Deb 27 July 1953 vol 518 c96W
106. Brigadier Peto

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he has considered the suggestions put forward by the Barnstaple Borough and Rural District Councils for re-zoning the counties of Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Gloucester into one zone in which there should be one standard price charged for coal; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

My right hon. Friend cannot accept this suggestion which would involve substantial increases in price to a large number of consumers, particularly those in Somerset and Gloucester.
