Mr. Norrisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will be inviting local authorities to submit further applications for urban development grant; and when such bids may be submitted.
Mr. Patrick JenkinIn the allocation of money for urban development grant I shall continue to give priority to those urban areas with serious social needs. My Department is accordingly inviting those authorities in England which have been designated under the Inner Urban Areas Act 1978 or which have enterprise zones within their areas to submit applications for grant on further schemes. Any schemes submitted by other authorities will be considered in light of the priority mentioned above.
Authorities are being invited to submit applications at any time during the period from 31 July 1983 to 31 January 1984.
