asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he envisages revising the structure plan for the greater Manchester area following the abolition of the Greater Manchester council.

Proposals for strategic planning arrangements in the metropolitan counties following the abolition of the existing county councils will he included in a White Paper to be published shortly. Meanwhile, I understand that the Greater Manchester council is preparing proposals for updating its existing structure plan.
