100. Colonel Gomme-Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is satisfied with the present rate and prospects of recruiting of Gurkhas for the British Army.

Mr. Head

Yes.

101. Colonel Gomme-Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for War where the British recruiting depot for Gurkhas is now situated; and whether he is satisfied with the present arrangements for transit of recruits and the necessary staff.

Mr. Head

The recruiting depots are at present at Lehra in Gorakhpur district and Jalapahar in Darjeeling district. There have recently been improvements in the staging and railway facilities and the arrangements for transit are now generally satisfactory.
