HC Deb 21 July 1953 vol 518 cc17-8W
58. Mr. Deedes

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is aware of anxiety felt by certain development towns, which have reached provisional agreement with the London County Council to take surplus population from London, on the prospects of getting suitable industry to establish itself; what representations he has received on the subject from the Ashford Urban District Council; and, in view of the importance of this factor in the successful development of these towns, whether he will take steps to ensure that there is satisfactory liaison between his own Department, the Board of Trade and the London County Council.

Mr. Marples

The answer to the first and third parts of the Question is, "Yes." My right hon. Friend's Department and the Board of Trade have both had discussions on the subject with the urban district council and will continue to keep in close touch with them.
