Mr. Michael Forsythasked the Secretary of State for Scotland further to his reply to the hon. Member for Stirling, Official Report, 6 July, c. 121–3, if he will list by district and island authority the public sector dwellings not included in that reply because they were awaiting or undergoing conversion or renovation.
Mr. AncramDwellings awaiting conversion or renovation were not treated in the survey in the same way as dwellings where conversion or renovation was in progress. Public sector dwellings where conversion or renovation was awaited are included in the figures previously given. As regards dwellings where conversion or renovation was in progress, it is estimated that at the time of the survey there were 3,410 vacant in Scotland as a whole, but it is not possible to produce reliable estimates for each district.
