HC Deb 20 July 1953 vol 518 cc7-8W
78. Mr. P. Williams

asked the Minister of Supply what tonnage of steel and steel plate was produced during the first six months of 1953; and how these tonnages compare with 1952.

Mr. Sandys

Complete statistics of plate production up to the end of June are not yet available, but will be published in due course. In the first five months of 1953, crude steel output was 7.35 million tons and steel plate output 1.02 million tons. The corresponding tonnages for the first five months of 1952 were 6.77 million tons of crude steel and 920,000 tons of steel plate.
