HC Deb 20 July 1953 vol 518 c9W
85. Mr. Bartley

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power the capital value of mining machinery which has been imported from America since, and including, 1947; what proportion of that machinery is actually in use in British coal mines now; and what has happened to the remainder of such machinery.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

I am informed that mining machinery to the value of £409,100 has been imported by the National Coal Board from the U.S.A. Of these imports, I understand that machines worth £105,000 are awaiting installation, and the rest are in use.
