HC Deb 16 July 1953 vol 517 c193W
Mr. Fenner Brockway

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the figures of murders committed in Kenya during the 12 months preceding 1st April, 1951, and 1st April, 1952, respectively; how many of the victims were Europeans, Asians and Africans; and how many in each case are ascribed to Mau Mau activities.

Mr. Lyttelton

240 and 235 respectively. Of those murdered eight were Europeans, four Asians and the rest Africans. No murders in these two periods were ascribed specifically to Mau Mau terrorism at the time when they occurred.
