80. Sir R. Acland

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what letters or other definite communications have been exchanged with the Governments of countries participating in the Colombo Plan, with a view to fixing a date and place for the second annual meeting of the Consultative Committee on Economic Development in South and South-East Asia; and what is the present state of the preparations for holding the meeting.

Mr. Maudling

The Government of India is to be the host at the next meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Colombo Plan which will take place in New Delhi at the end of September and the beginning of October. They have been in consultation with the U.K. Government and the other participating Governments about the arrangements and a detailed announcement will be made in due course.
