84. Mr. Harold Davies

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President of the Council, what steps he intends to take to implement the recommendations of the Sixth Annual Report of the Advisory Council on Scientific Policy; and whether he will improve the existing controls and methods of assessing and evaluating applications for industrial development.

The Report is under careful consideration by the Departments concerned but, as explained in the conclusions, its subject did not lend itself to a simple set of recommendations.

As regards the last part of the Question, the Government are always doing what they can to reduce controls.
