10. Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will indicate the cost of snow clearance during the last three months by the counties of Brecon, Carmarthen, Cardigan, Glamorgan, Monmouth, Montgomery, Pembroke and Radnor; how many of these counties have had to curtail their estimates because of this special expenditure; and which counties have received from him a special grant aid for snow clearance.

The cost has been £11,763 on trunk roads and £59,550 on classified roads, but I cannot give the expenditure on unclassified roads. No separate grant is given for snow clearance, which is covered by the annual grant for maintenance. I am informed that four of these counties will have to curtail their maintenance programmes.
