§ 77 and 87. Mr. Morleyasked the Minister of Education (1) the average cost per head per annum of the education of pupils in England and Wales in maintained grammar schools;
(2) the cost of education per head per annum for a child in a maintained primary school and a maintained secondary modern school, respectively.
§ Miss HorsbrughThe returns received from authorities do not enable me to give separate figures for particular types of maintained secondary schools. On the basis of the revised estimates of authorities for 1952–53, the average cost per pupil for all pupils in maintained secondary schools is a little under £54. The corresponding figure for pupils in maintained primary schools is about £30.
