69. Mr. Coldrick

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the number of boys entered each year by the Government Secondary School, Aden, for the Cambridge Overseas Schools Certificate in the years 1946-51; and the number passing this examination each year.

Mr. Lyttelton

The numbers of those entered for and passing the examination are respectively:

  • In 1946, 7 and 1.
  • In 1947, 6 and 1.
  • In 1948, 8 and 4.
  • In 1949, 7 and 5.
  • In 1950, 12 and 6.
  • In 1951, 29 (of whom 12 were entered as an experiment from the commercial section of the school) and 7.
