HC Deb 04 February 1953 vol 510 c210W
80. Dr. Bennett

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he will make a statement on the results obtained by the Meteor aircraft as a ground-attack weapon in Korea: and to what extent this aeroplane is to be adopted for a similar role in the 2nd Tactical Air Force in Europe.

Mr. Ward

The Meteor aircraft in use in Korea are operated by No. 77 Squadron of the Royal Australian Air Force. The Squadron has been most successful in the many ground attacks it has made. Apart from their accuracy in low-level attacks, the Meteors have stood up well to the rigorous conditions in the theatre.

As previously announced, the ground attack role in 2nd Allied Tactical Air Force will be carried out by the Venom.
