§ Major Lloyd GeorgeAs many of the items cover a wide range of brands and varieties, the individual prices of which vary from place to place, it is not possible to give particulars of percentage changes.
The only comprehensive and reliable indication of the general trend of food prices is that given by the food section of 200W the Interim Index of Retail Prices. A list of the commodities is as follows:
- Apples.
- Bananas.
- Barley, pearl.
- Beans.
- Biscuits.
- Bread, loaves, rolls and baps not exceeding 10 oz. weight.
- Canned fish, certain varieties.
- Cheese, fancy varieties.
- Chewing gum.
- Chocolate and sugar confectionery, certain varieties.
- Chocolate couverture.
- Coffee and coffee mixtures.
- Dried fruit (apples, dates, pears, plums, prunes and figs).
- Duck eggs.
- Fish and fish cakes.
- Flour confectionery.
- Fruit curd.
- Goatmeat.
- Grapefruit.
- Hares.
- Honey.
- Horseflesh.
- Jam.
- Marmalade.
- Meat and fish pastes.
- Meat products, certain varieties.
- Mincemeat.
- Nut kernels and desiccated coconut.
- Oranges.
- Peas.
- Pigs' feet.
- Poultry.
- Rabbits.
- Semolina.
- Shredded suet.
