§ Mr. HeadOwing to the great variety in rates of pay and allowances for Army officers and to the fundamental differences in the pay codes in force on 1st April, 1946, and now, no direct and precise comparison of the sort required can be made. Broadly, the average increase since 1st April, 1946, in basic pay and allowances in the range of £1,000 and above at that date is of the order of one third. For all officers the corresponding figure is of the order of one half.
