asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government why gypsies have had to leave the site at Rickling, Essex, where they have lived for 20 years; what assistance has been given in finding an alternative site; and if a satisfactory solution has yet been found to the problem.

My right hon. Friend understands that the county council are considering taking enforcement proceedings in respect of use of this site for caravans and tents without planning permission. As the proceedings might lead to an appeal it would not be right for him to make any comment at this stage.
