HC Deb 02 February 1953 vol 510 cc177-8W
Mr. Finch

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will now consider a review of basic pensions payable to disabled ex-Service men and their dependants, having regard to the hardship suffered by many as a result of the present cost of living.

Mr. Amory

As a result of the Government's review of pensions last year, the basic rate of pension for 100 per cent. disablement was increased from 45s. to 55s., with proportionate increases for degrees of disablement less than 100 per cent., and the standard rate of widow's pension of 35s. was raised to 42s. Since then several other improvements have been made in the war pensions allowances. I can assure the hon. Member that this question is kept under constant review.
