§ Sir W. Darlingasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that a Glasgow property company have received over 2,000 applications to purchase houses which they are willing to sell; that they are being prevented from doing so; and if he will consider how the present embargo on house ownership can be removed.
§ Mr. J. StuartAfter considering all the circumstances of this case, I decided that on the facts before me I would not be justified in giving consent to the sale of the houses. I told the company however that if after experience of the working of the proposals in the Housing (Repairs and Rents) (Scotland) Bill they desired to make further representations to me I would reconsider the matter in the light of the circumstances of the time. I have no precise knowledge of the number of applications to purchase received by the company.
