HC Deb 15 December 1953 vol 522 cc37-8W
85. Mr. Marlowe

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Defence whether he is aware of the confusion and misunderstanding with regard to the minimum and average pensions of retired officers of the Armed Forces; whether, before publishing any White Paper on the subject, Her Majesty's Government will receive a deputation from the officers concerned, so that the facts may be clarified; and whether he will provide opportunity for a debate on this subject.

Mr. Birch

Her Majesty's Government do not consider that any useful service would be rendered by Ministers receiving a deputation at this time. The question of a debate is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Leader of the House.
