§ 123. Mr. G. M. Thomsonasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President of the Council, if he will initiate research into the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis.
§ Mr. BevinsA substantial amount of research on the cause and treatment of multiple sclerosis is already being undertaken in a number of centres. Some of this research work is supported by the Medical Research Council. While no major advance in our knowledge of this disease has been made in recent years, I am informed that new approaches to the problem are constantly being sought.
