HC Deb 03 December 1953 vol 521 c173W
112. Mr. Bullard

asked the Minister of Food how he proposes to ensure regular deliveries of pigs to the bacon factories under the scheme outlined in the White Paper, Command No. 8989; and how he will seek to avoid the sudden diversion of pigs on to the fresh pork market, which would make it difficult to operate the bacon factories efficiently.

Major Lloyd George

On decontrol, bacon curers will make their own arrangements for the delivery of pigs to bacon factories; but, as stated in the White Paper, it will be open to producers to promote a scheme for the marketing of pigs intended for bacon curing. Such a marketing board would negotiate terms of contracts with the bacon curers.

113. Mr. Bullard

asked the Minister of Food which trade and professional organisations he is consulting about the arrangements for grading and marketing fat-stock under the scheme outlined in the White Paper, Command No. 8989; and when he expects to be able to announce details of these arrangements.

Major Lloyd George
