HC Deb 02 April 1953 vol 513 c169W
Mr. Houghton

asked the Secretary to the Treasury the estimated cost, in the current financial year and in each of the next two years, of the additions to Civil Service pensions, as distinct from other public service pensions, sanctioned by the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1952, and by what amount the yearly cost of such additions is expected to diminish annually as the number of Civil Service pensioners affected is reduced by death.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The estimated cost is as follows:

1953–54 About 1,810,000
1954–55 About 1,720,000
1955–56 About 1,630,000

The cost is likely to fall by about £90,000 a year at first, but this rate of diminution may vary a good deal in later years.
