§ 95. Mr. Goughasked the Minister of Agriculture how many acres of farming land will be absorbed if the present plan for the extension of Gatwick Airport materialises; and what does this represent in loss of food production to the nation in any one year.
§ Sir T. DugdaleThe amount of land involved in the proposal to extend Gatwick Airport is some 700 acres. Not all of this will be lost to food production partly because cultivations will be possible between the runways. It is impracticable at this early stage to form a reliable estimate of the eventual loss of food production.
