§ 71. Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenportasked the Minister of Transport when he anticipates it will be possible for him to carry out the recommendations of paragraph 35 of the Report of the Departmental Committee on the Export and Slaughter of Horses, which was published in March, 1950.
Mr. BraithwaiteThis paragraph of the Report recommends the raising of the speed limit on heavy goods vehicles generally from 20 to 30 m.p.h. Horse boxes specially constructed as such are already allowed to travel up to 30 m.p.h., but the question of raising the heavy goods vehicle speed limit generally is one into which many considerations enter besides the carriage of horses.
