§ 133. Mr. Edeasked the Minister of Education if she has yet received the final revised estimates of the Somerset-shire Local Education Authority for the ensuing year; if she is aware that the chairman of the education committee has announced that it will not be possible to maintain the existing services after the reductions which have been made; and what action she proposes to take to ensure that there shall be no deterioration in the service in this county.
§ Miss HorsbrughThe answer to the first two parts of the Question is "No." As regards the third part, I have already reminded the authority that reductions should not be made which would impair the essential fabric of the education service and I have no reason to doubt that they will bear this in mind in settling their estimates for the coming financial year.
