asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware of the economy arising from the domestic usage of the slow-combustion fire; and if he will abolish the Purchase Tax on it in order to encourage its more widespread adoption.

I presume that the hon. Member is referring to solid fuel fires: these are exempt from Purchase Tax.
