HC Deb 04 March 1952 vol 497 c25W
37. Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Works whether he will cause a plate to be placed in Westminster Hall to mark the spot from which His Majesty King George VI last addressed the assembled Houses of Parliament.

Mr. Eccles

I do not feel that it would be entirely appropriate to cause a plate to be placed in Westminster Hall to record His Late Majesty's reply to the Addresses of Parliament on the occasion of the opening of the New Chamber. I do, however, propose to lay a plate in Westminster Hall recording the Lying-in-State of His Late Majesty.
